Wasted Chicago Youth are Justin Long and Mazi Namvar; Chicago's well known underground house militia. With their latest invention, the duo breathe life back into the sleeping giant that is Chicago House Music. It's no small order, but both artists feel the time has come to get their hometown back on top of a scene that has in recent years seen its status trivialized.
Justin is well known for his on going residency at Chicago's infamous Smart Bar, going strong for over 7 years. He has released original music and remixes on Classic, MFF, Junior Boys Own, Robsoul and Cajual additionally master minding the .dotbleep imprint. Fresh Meat's Mazi is no stranger to successful collaborations and has worked with some of the most influential labels in electronic music. Together these two recently dropped their WCY debut releases on the gent's own labels. Their first EPs have received praise from all corners of the house and techno worlds (see list of DJ, press and radio support below). Two of the tracks have already placed in top 100 sales positions on Beatport. Either together or separately Justin and Mazi have rocked dance floors the world over playing venues such as Fabric, Sub Club, Crystal (Istanbul), Back to Basics, Club Q (Zürich), Masai (Varna), Shindig (New Castle), Zouk (Singapore), Vinyl, Concorde Atlantique (Paris), Redlight (Paris), Space (Ibiza), Pacha (Buenos Aires) and Decadance (Ghent). They are presently working on a live WCY show debuting at Smart Bar in mid December of this year. They've already scored their first WCY DJ residency at Vinyl in Denver, Colorado. The future couldn't be brighter for this dynamic duo. Follow-ups and new signings are already in the works. Wasted Chicago Youth are to Justin Long and Mazi what the Avengers are to Captain America and Iron Man. This is indeed a union 'made in heaven or hell'; complicated anti-zeros for the 21st century! |
